Upton-by-Chester United Reformed Church

God's Love is for all. Our mission is to show it, share it, live it.

SAVING TO SHARE

The Saving To Share Committee meet every two months to consider how to donate the amount of money that we receive from the church, to pass on to good causes. Last year this was nearly £6,000. We try to make our choice as varied as possible.

Each year we decide on three charities each of which receive four donations during the year.

Last year we chose MAF as our international charity, because of the work that Adrian Rose is doing in Kenya and the Sudan.

As our national charity we supported Crisis because of their work with homeless people.

Locally we gave to Save the Family who this Spring will open Cotton Hall Farm near Chester to provide homes for families.

Every year we donate to over twenty charities ranging from Amnesty International to Dogs for the Disabled.

We always respond to D.E.C. disaster appeals, last year it was the Haiti Earthquake and the  Pakistan Floods.

We belong to World Development Movement which campaigns for such things as climate change, trade justice and third world debt reduction.

We also organise the collection for Christian Aid Week, which this year is from 15th-21st May. We will then be asking the congregation for help with the collection so that it will be as successful as last year.
